USD 491 plans OK’d
The Eudora Planning Commission unanimously approved Eudora USD 491’s preliminary and final site plans for additions to Eudora High School.
“We are pleased the planning commission has approved the so plans we can move forward,” Superintendent of Schools Don Grossdidier said
Commisioners Ken Adkinson, David Montgomery and Rose House were not present for the vote.
The expansion at the high school will include a 750-seat auditorium and additional classrooms. The additions, which are set to open in fall 2010, were part of the $45 million bond issue passed by Eudora voters in November 2007.
In other actions, the commission:
• Approved the use permitted upon review application and lot split application for Spring Properties, LLC at 1413/1415, 1419/1421 and 1425/1427 Ash Court.
The original lot splits were not approved by the planning commission, the property was sold without proper zoning, and code states that utilities for a townhouse or
condominium must be split.
Owners of each of the six townhouses had to sign legal papers stating they approved of the sharing of a sewage line for each lot.
The approval also is contingent upon approval by the Eudora Board of Zoning Appeals and the Eudora City Council.
• Approved the preliminary and final site plans for Von Achen Chartered Architects in Intech Business Park. However, the owner’s request that sidewalks not be built on the lot was denied.
Commissioner Richard Campbell and City Administrator Cheryl Beatty said if the commission wants to see sidewalks throughout the city, they should not allow any more properties to be built without sidewalks.
