Cardinals come back, beat Jeff West
January 17, 2008
The Eudora boys basketball team battled back from an 18-point third quarter deficit Thursday night to defeat Jeff West 53-52.
The victory advanced the Cardinals to the fifth-place game at 11:30 a.m. Saturday when they will face the winner of Tonganoxie and Silver Lake.
Senior Dylan Rust led Eudora in scoring with 22, and came up with a key block in the last five seconds of the game to preserve the 1-point victory. Sophomore Justin Ballock added 19.
The comeback began after a 30-second timeout by coach Kyle Deterding with 1:42 to play in the third quarter, when Eudora trailed 45-27.
Rust hit both free throws after he was fouled with 1:16 left in the fourth quarter with Eudora trailing by one, and those would be the last points scored in the game.

Point of View
What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
