The Eudora eighth-grade varsity basketball team lost Monday night, falling to Spring Hill 34-12. The Cardinals played good defense throughout the game to keep it c lose, but couldn't generate enough offense to make a run late in the game.
The team won a big game Thursday against Wheatridge. Eudora came out on top in a defensive struggle, 28-21.
The team also lost Jan. 22, falling 36-24 against Ottawa.
Outmanned and outsized, the Cardinals played well on the defensive end of the court. Offensive struggles led to an 11-0 deficit after the first quarter, but the Cardinals fought back to find themselves down 11-7 at half time.
A tough second half kept the game close until Ottawa pulled away late to secure the win. The team, 4-5 on the season, plays host to Central Heights.
¢ The junior varsity squad, 3-4 on the season, lost Monday to Spring Hill, 47-31. Struggles from the free throw line and a tough Spring Hill squad led to the loss.
The team won Thursday against Wheatridge, 30-22. The Cardinals rode a big third quarter to push the lead. The squad then held on in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The team won a close game Jan. 22 against Ottawa, knocking off the Cyclones 33-32.
The game was back and forth early, but Eudora utilized timely shooting to help pull away late, then held off a final Ottawa charge for the win.
