The Kids Parade winners were Mara Oleson, Lexi Frost and Brandon and Samantha Gregory with "The Nurses of America" float; in second place were "The Working Girls" with Anna Smoots, Jenna Walters, Kelsey Swanger and Chloe and Kayla Hernandez; in third place was "Crazy Raz," with Reaghen Transmeier, Madison Keim and the Overcash family; in fourth place was "Jailhouse Rock," with the Shockley and Herron families; in fifth place was 'Don't Worry, Be Happy," with the Brown Family; in sixth place was "Finding Eudora," with Daniel Klingele; and in seventh place was "Aubrey's Daycare Animals," with Kenny Brooks, Julian Rosales and Ryan Bretthauer.

The Grand Parade winner for best float was the Holy Family Youth Group; in second place was the Class of 1968; in third place was Eudora 4-H; and in fourth place was the Class of 2008.

¢ The best antique automobile entry was Jim Cannon's 1954 Ford pickup; the best antique tractor was Bobby Gabriel's 1950 Farmall Cub.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
