Heavy rain forces U.S. Highway 24-40 closure near Leavenworth-Douglas county line
Heavy rain has covered U.S. Highway 24-40 north of the Leavenworth-Douglas county line. The road has been closed because of the heavy rains, according to Leavenworth County Emergency Management Director Chuck Magaha.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
