Church St. project to resume Saturday

October 9, 2008

Resurfacing of Church Street will take place Saturday. Work was supposed to take place throughout the week, but Douglas County Public Works, the City of Eudora and contractor LRM Industries Inc. decided it would cause less disruption to local traffic if work was done on a day during the weekend as opposed to a weekday.

The work could have been done last Saturday but was delayed because of EudoraFest.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Church Street between the Kansas Highway 10 ramps and 14th Street. Church Street will be closed between 14th and 10th streets, with a detour directing drivers to Elm Street.

City officials urge citizens to use alternate routes when possible and exercise patience and caution.

The work on Church Street will cost about $140,000. The City of Eudora will pay about $4,600 towards the project cost.
