Being from the east and an amateur history buff, the name of rural Eudora Winery Blue-jacket Crossing brought back recollections of a book titled “Blue Jacket War Chief of the Shawnees” by Allan Eckert.

One hears much these days about public/private partnerships, usually from private companies wanting tax breaks for ventures they say will be of a great benefit to the public. In June, the Eudora City Council created another kind of partnership - one driven by charity and not the profit motive.

Since she began her duties as administrator of Medicalodges, Eudora, Tami Klinedinst has organized events that help residents of the assisted living facility feel as though they are part of the community.
The next event will accomplish that goal but with a philanthropic twist.

Eudora High School English teacher Matt Bova has been named to the executive council of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English.
He’ll serve a three-year term in the affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English.

Rainy weather during the spring as well as early September hasn’t slowed construction on the Eudora USD 491’s $27 million elementary school.
Don Swartz, the district’s construction consultant, told the Eudora Board of Education at its monthly meeting Thursday the project was five to six weeks ahead of schedule.
