Church St. work begins on Monday
With construction on the Church Street bridge over Kansas Highway 10 now finished, resurfacing work is set to begin on Church Street.
Douglas County will begin a mill and overlay of Church Street beginning Monday.
The $120,000 project will stretch from the ramps on the bridge over K-10 and end at 10th Street.
Douglas County Public Works Director Keith Browning said there is extensive patching to be done and if crews find more as the project progresses, it could add to the duration of the project.
"Patching is the variable," Browning said. "We'd like to think if all goes well and weather doesn't cause any delays we could be done by October 4."
However, Browning said it was plausible that work could go extend into the following week.
Browning said crews would not work Oct. 4 so as not to interfere with traffic related to EudoraFest.
The construction will not cause a full closure of the road, but will limit it to one lane. It likely will last eight to 10 working days
As with the prior construction on the bridge, Eudora Police Chief Greg Dahlem as well as officials with Eudora School District advise drivers headed south to the high school and junior high to take alternate routes when possible.
