Ballock sets school record in 300 hurdles
The Eudora track season got underway Tuesday at Wellsville, and junior hurdler Justin Ballock set the school record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.2 seconds.
Ballock’s record-breaking time also got him the first-place medal. Ballock also took second in the high hurdles.
As a team, the boys took sixth-place overall, and the girls finished in third-place. For the boys, senior Cody Carlson placed third in the shot put with a throw of 42-7. Ben Katzenmeier finished fifth in javelin with a throw of 150-6. Christian Richardson finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 39-4.
The boys 4x1600 relay team of Carlos Canizales, Collin Forsberg, Kyle Snow and Ivan Espinosa took first with a time of 21:04.09. The 4x100 relay team of Ryan Fisher, Ryan Mendel, Brian Katzfey and Mike White finished fifth with a time of 46.2 seconds. The throwers relay team of Carlson, Katzenmeier, Justin Schmidt and Zane Pittman also took first-place with a time of 50 seconds.
For the girls, Kendal Abel finished second in the long jump with a 14-6 1/2 leap. Shea Lounsbury finished second in triple jump with a jump of 31-10 1/2. The girls 4x200-meter relay team of Abel, Tianna Dunaway, Rachel Pyle and Alisha Wingeback finished first with a time of 1:57.2. Wingeback also finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.8 seconds. Katzfey also took fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:43.1.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Kaya Riemann, Hannah Katzenmeier, Austin Katzfey and Bre Miller finished in third-place at 11:27.7.
“We have a long way to go,” Eudora coach Phil Katzenmeier said. “We will look forward to improving over the next couple weeks.”
