Eudora boys advance, girls fall at Paola
The Eudora High boys held off a late Tonganoxie rally, and defeated the Chieftains, 55-51, in the semifinals of the Eudora Boys Invitational Tuesday at Eudora.
Eudora led by 10 in the fourth quarter before Tonganoxie rallied late and cut the lead to two with one minute to play. But Justin Ballock hit two late free-throws, and Eudora held on for the win.
Eudora (3-0) will play Harmon in the championship game at 8 p.m. Thursday in Eudora. Tonganoxie (1-1) will play Piper in the consolation match at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Eudora.
The Cardinals will be looking to win its tournament championship for the first time since 2006.
“We’re going to have to contain Harmon,” Eudora coach Kyle Deterding said. “They are really athletic, and they’ve got some really nice players. If we don’t come ready to play some defense, we’ll give up a lot of points.
“We’ll have to come out and play really hard, and really smart, and do things the right way to give them a game. They’re a good team, and hopefully we can meet the challenge. It should be a fun one.”

Evan Folks scored 21 points, but the Eudora High girls fell to K.C. Turner 50-40 Tuesday at the Paola Invitational.
