Eudora Mayor Scott Hopson discussed the upgrades being made to the concession stand and gazebo at CPA Park.

Q: What sort of upgrades are being made to the concession stand at CPA park?

A: We have installed a new roof, installation and electrical upgrades. There are plans to expand the concrete sidewalks on all four sides of the building, paint the inside and outside of the building, upgrade the windows, add air-conditioning, reroof the gazebo and paint it as well. We will attempt to complete as much of the upgrades as possible with the amount of money we have budgeted for this project.

Q: Where did the idea come about to make the improvements?

A: This building was built in 1962 and has been in need of repairs for a long time. It was my recommendation that we make upgrades because of EudoraFest, CPA Picnic and the Eudora Boy Scouts’ fish fry.

Q: About how much could the improvements cost?

A: We have budgeted $20,000 for this upgrade. Fundraisers are also a possibility.

Q: Is their a timeline for when the project could be finished?

A: Our target date for completion will be July 2010.

Q: With money as tight as it is, will you be asking people to donate time and or materials?

A: Yes, we will be asking for volunteers and any donations the community is willing to provide. Our community has always joined together to assist the city when in need. That is what makes Eudora a great place to live.
