Student named Presidential Scholar candidate
Eudora High School senior JoAnna Male was named a candidate in the 2009 Presidential Scholars Program.
She is the daughter of Frank and Kallie Male.
She is one of about 3,000 candidates throughout the United States. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activity.
Five H=hundred semifinalists will be selected in early April and then one male and one female student will be selected from each state as well as 15 students at large and up to 20 students from the creative and performing arts.
Scholars will be invited to Washington, D.C., in June to for a recognition ceremony.
