Salzman advances to state semifinals

SALINA — Eudora High’s Cody Salzman has won his first two matches of the Class 4A state wrestling tournament here to advance to the 112-pound semifinals.

The semifinal round will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the 103 weight class. Salzman will wrestle Taylor Moeder of Saint James. Moeder won the regional tournament last weekend and entered today with a 38-4 record.

In the quarterfinal round, Salzman defeated Parsons’ Emilo Burnett 11-9. Salzman pinned Eric Mitchell of Smoky Valley in the first round.

The other three Cardinals lost in the first round. The first round of consolation will start at 3:30 p.m. Those wrestlers are Thomas McLees, Caleb Clayton-Molby and Boomer Mays.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
