EHS takes second at league art contest
Ten Eudora High School students went to Baldwin last week to compete in the Frontier League art contest.
Each school in the league is allowed only 25 pieces of art to be judged. After winning it all last year, EHS fell to second this year, behind De Soto who scored a total of 152 points. EHS was close behind with147.
Led by Marian Mersmann with team members Madison Dennis and Kelsee Evans, the sidewalk chalk team won first place for the third year straight.
The assignment was to create a drawing of the school’s mascot done in the cubist style of Picasso.
Mersmann brought home a purple ribbon, one of only five best of show awards. Blue ribbons for excellence were awarded as follows:
Becky Dreifuss, 3; Marian Mersmann, 2; Kelsee Evans, 2; Brianna Schumacher, Chelsea Preece and Baylee Schmeck, 1 each. Red for merit were awarded to Brianna Schumacher, Hannah Katzenmeier and Alex Tacke. EHS artists have been in the top three schools in the league for all 16 years of its existence.
