Memorial team to have Relay for Life barbecue

The Ruth Lynn Memorial team with the Relay for Life of Shawnee and Lenexa is organizing a Barbecue/Fun Day from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Monticello United Methodist Church, 23860 W. 75th St., Lenexa.
A pulled pork sandwich meal, which includes a sandwich, backed beans, chips and drink, will cost $6, and a hamburger or hotdog meal will cost $4. There will be games for children and drawings and prizes throughout.
The Relay for Life of Shawnee and Lenexa, a walk/run event to raise money for the American Cancer Society, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Swarner Park in Lenexa.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
