Council meeting time to change in November

The Eudora City Council approved an ordinance at a meeting monday stating that city council meetings now would begin at 7 p.m., which is 30 minutes earlier than they had in the past.

The change will take place at the Nov. 9 meeting.

In other actions, the council:

• Approved a request from the Downtown Eudora Business Association to hold a safe trick-or-treating event from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at CPA Park.

• Recognized city employees Tom Curtis and Shawn Athey for five years of service.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
