EudoraFest to have ‘Lucky 13’ parade
EudoraFest organizers hope to improve the 13th annual celebration with a “Lucky No.13 parade.”
The idea for a parade came about after construction last year on Main Street lead to a somewhat muted event.
“Basically, we thought we’d add something to the Eudorafest,” EudoraFest Committee member and parade organizer Rob Wiley said. “It’s been 12 years and we hoped to give folks something new to bring them downtown after the construction last year.”
The parade will start at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 3 in the Laws Field parking lot and then head north on Main Street, which is the same route for the CPA Picnic’s Grand Parade.
“We’ve seen it in years past with the CPA and I think everybody has felt that having it start at Laws (Field) was more positive,” Wiley said.
Staging for the parade begins at 8 a.m. at the Laws Field parking lot and entries need to be arrive no later than 9 a.m.
There is no cost to register for the parade and it is open to floats, classic cars and trucks, tractors, as well as high school bands from area.
No animals are allowed in the parade and any bikes in the parade will not be allowed during the rest of the day’s festivities.
Wiley said there will be prizes awarded for the categories of best float, best marching band and best miscellaneous entry.
Wiley also said he already is planning to do a parade next year.
“I think that once we get this established, we’ll find the parade gets bigger and bigger,” he said.
Registrations also can be picked up and turned in at Byrne’s Pharmacy, 101 W. 10th St. The registration deadline is
