H1N1 clinics rescheduled

January 15, 2010

The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department has rescheduled H1N1 vaccination clinics that were canceled due to last week's s snowstorm.

The vaccine will be made available during a clinic from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eudora Middle School, 2635 Church St.

The clinic is for any member of the public who wants protection from the virus. As part of the federal vaccination program, the H1N1 immunization will available at no charge and no appointment is necessary.

The health department encourages children younger than 10, who have received their first dose of the H1N1 vaccine, to receive their second booster immunization at the upcoming clinics. A period of one month must have passed between the child’s first and second doses.

To help expedite the process, clients are encouraged to download a consent form at www.ldchealth.org, fill it out and take it to the clinic. A second consent form must be filled out for children receiving their second dose.

The vaccination also is available at the health department's regular walk-in clinic. Visit www.ldchealth.org for more information.
