Eudora man’s condition improving after apparent fall from roof
The condition of a Eudora man who was critically injured in a fall Monday afternoon is improving.
Richard Waring is recovering at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
“We really appreciate everyone’s prayers,” said his wife, Tracy Waring.
Richard Waring was rushed to the hospital by air ambulance Monday after falling from the roof of his home. Early reports indicated that he fell from a ladder, but Tracy Waring said on Tuesday that her husband was doing repairs on the roof of their home when he fell. She said doctors were still trying to determine how the accident happened. He may have suffered a seizure, although she said he does not have a medical condition that would make him prone to seizures.
“He’s talking and more alert today,” Tracy Waring said of her husband’s condition Tuesday.
The accident happened at 2:30 p.m. Rain fell on and off throughout the day, but it’s unknown whether the wet weather played a part in the accident.
Emergency crews rushed to help the victim and quickly determined that he needed to be transported by helicopter. A helicopter landed at West Elementary School, less than a block away from where Waring fell. He was listed in critical condition when the helicopter transported him.
