Bicycle bonanza slated for Saturday
The second annual Eudora Bicycle Bonanza will be at Eudora Elementary School parking lot on Saturday, May 7. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Eudora students and families can take advantage of free activities, including bike inspections and an obstacle course. Free helmets will be fitted and given out by the Eudora Police Department, while supplies last, to children under age 15.
"This is a great chance for kids and families to come out and have some fun while learning about bicycle safety," said Eudora Schools prevention specialist Chrissy Mayer, who is helping coordinate the event. "There will be information about bike safety, rules of the road and bike trail etiquette."
Event plans include:
- FREE helmets from the Eudora Police Department, custom fitted for children under age 15
- Bike inspections
- Bicycle rodeo course
- Safe ride course
- Lunches for sale from EHS culinary arts students
There also will be a collection point for people to contribute non-perishable food items to the Eudora Food Pantry.
