Although Daniel’s BBQ owner Daniel Hipsher grew up around the barbecue business, he had never participated in any barbecue competitions.
But about six years ago when a friend had a member quit his barbecue team, he called Hipsher who at the time managed Daniel’s in Tonganoxie. Hipsher joined and the team received a perfect score in ribs at Kansas Speedway.
He has been hooked ever since, taking part in about 20 competitions per year.

Members of the Eudora Chamber of Commerce did not know what to expect when they planned an event called “Summer in the Park.”
But after over 200 people came to listen to three bands Friday night at CPA Park, it was clear the event was a success.

The city of Eudora will give the Downtown Eudora Business Association $500 to $1,000 for signs that direct people to alternate parking areas during construction to beautify Main Street.

The Eudora Chamber of Commerce officially decided Thursday to have a concert from 6 to 9 p.m. June 6 in CPA Park.
The decision came after nearly four months of talks to develop events in downtown Eudora to support businesses in the area during the construction set to take place this summer.
