Lawrence V. Nixon 1924 - 2008

Graveside services for Lawrence V. Nixon, 83, Eudora, were Monday, May 12, in Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Nixon died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Ratcliff, Ark., the son of Thomas and Annie McCullough Nixon.
Mr. Nixon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Jim Clark Motors from 1957 to 1987. He was a member and deacon of Assembly of God Church.
He married Rilla Wallace on April 19, 1945, in Booneville, Ark. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rayna Hickman, Eudora, and Cheryl Mark, Lawrence; a son, Jon-Mark, Eudora; three sisters, Clara, Joy and Twila; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Nixon was preceded in death by a son, Joe.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
