A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanne A. France, 84, Eudora, was Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Burial followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. France died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Medicalodges, Eudora. She was a former resident of Kansas City, Kan.
She was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Oil City, Pa. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1971 and graduated from nursing school in 1975. She worked at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Kansas City, Kan., until her retirement and continued as a volunteer there.
She married Richard F. France. They shared 58 years of marriage. He died in 2007.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel France, in 2000. Survivors include a son, Patrick France, New York; six daughters, Mary Cole, Theresa Meyers, Judith Ráse, Doris Hamilton, Eunice Smith, and Reneé Kindall; a sister, Margaret Burns, New Jersey; a brother, Charles Maher, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Holy Family Catholic Church, 820 Birch St.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
