Services for Albert Oscar Wyrick Sr., 86, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie
Mr. Wyrick died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his home.
He was born Oct. 16, 1923 in Tuscumbia, Mo., the son of John C. and Cora Hawkins Wyrick. Mr. Wyrick was retired from Perks Dog Food Co., Kansas City, Kan.
On Dec. 25, 1941, he married Gertrude O. Thomas in Kansas City, Kan. She died Jan. 23, 2003.
Survivors include eight sons, Albert Jr. and Thomas, both of Tonganoxie, Billy, Riley, James and John, both of Eastland, Texas, Richard, Langdon, N.D., and Floyd and Ronald, both of Eudora; seven daughters, Dixie Lattin and Sharon Beggs, both of Langdon, N.D., Doris Eastlin, Alton, Mo., Virginia Haff, and Bonnie Jacobs, both of Kansas City, Kan., Margie Wheeler, Independence, Mo., and Cindy Ramdorsingh, Oskaloosa; a brother, Johnnie, Jefferson City, Mo.; a stepsister, Eldonna Ernshaw, Bonner Springs; 42 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service at the funeral home.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
