Shirley Marguerite Douglass 1932 - 2009

Funeral service for Shirley Marguerite Douglass, 77, Eudora, were Wednesday at the Morning Star Church, 998 N. 1771 Road.
Mrs. Douglass died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.
She was born June 15, 1932 in Topeka, the daughter of Harry E. and Thelma M. Van Vleet Gerry.
She taught art, music and speech in Christian schools in Johnson County for many years. She and her husband managed the Pine Crest Apartments in Eudora for many years.
She married Lee S. Douglass on Oct. 15, 1954, in Topeka. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Kirk, DeSoto, Toby, Gardner, Stephen, Houston, and Nathan, El Paso, Texas; three daughters, Debbie Adhikary, Katmandu, Nepal, Sarah Albright, Fort Worth, Texas, and Rachel Hunt, Shawnee; four brothers, Richard Gerry, Bolivar, Mo., Larry Gerry, Topeka, Bob Freer, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Roy Freer, Granbury, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the Shirley Douglass Memorial Fund, sent in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
