Funeral services for John S. Reese, 92, Eudora, were Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Burial with Masonic services will follow at Eudora City Cemetery.
Mr. Reese died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at his home in Eudora.
He was born Nov. 2, 1916, in New York City, the son of Orville and Susan Dunbar Reese. He was raised in Colorado Springs and moved to the Eudora area in 1951.
Mr. Reese served in the U.S. Navy and was with the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He worked for Hercules for many years, retiring in 1972. After his retirement, he opened Eudora Auto Trim and operated it for many years.
Mr. Reese was a member of the Eudora Masonic Lodge and had held every office. He received his 50-year Masonic pin a few years ago.
He married Ruth J. Hall on June 5, 1948, in Colorado Springs. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Pam Pineda, Lawrence, and Jane Eisele, Victoria, Texas; and a brother, Jay Reese, Branson, Mo.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home.
