Clyde F. Mersmann 1924 - 2008

Funeral Services for Clyde F. Mersmann, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Eudora.
Mr. Mersmann died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Pioneer Ridge.
He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Anderson County, the son of Fred J. and Regina Lickteig Mersmann.
Mr. Mersmann graduated from Richmond High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Mersmann was a bookkeeper/accountant for Lawrence Transfer & Storage Co. for many years.
He attended both Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Mr. Mersmann married Thelma Brockus on Mar. 4, 1946, in Richmond. She preceded him in death on Sep. 22, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda K. Van Dyke, Lawrence; three sons, Fred C., Lawrence, Thomas C., Lawrence, and Walter L., Eudora; four brothers Frank, Osage City, Lawrence, Walnut Creek, Calif., James, Columbiana, Ala., Mark, Chesterfield, Mo.; one sister, Cleo Monroe, Phoenix, Ariz.; and 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael W. and a grandson, Adam Mersmann.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora or the MS Society and sent in care of the mortuary.
A rosary will be recited at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, 2008.
