Aubrey E. Martin 1930 - 2008
Graveside inurnment services for Aubrey Eugene Martin, 77, Wamego, were Saturday, Jan. 5, at Mount Sidney Cemetery in Linwood.
Mr. Martin died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland.
He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Lakeview, the son of William G. and Pearl M. Wilson Martin. He attended local schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1948. He moved from Lawrence to Lamar, Colo., in 1966, and then to Wamego in 2006.
Mr. Martin worked as a manager in Lawrence for the National Alfalfa and Milling Co. He managed many dehydrator plants in Lamar, Colo. He then worked in management for WHO Manufacturing Co. in Lamar until he retired.
He married Velma Marie Bryant on July 28, 1950, in Lakeview. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kathlene Lavone Shannon, North Platte, Neb., Dianne Kay Walsh, Wamego; two sons, Aubrey E. Martin Jr., Lamar, Colo., Gerald E. Martin, Hanston; a brother, Clyde Martin, Bowie, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Martin, Martha Hopkins and Wilma Budenosky; and three brothers, William Martin, Amos Martin and Edgar Martin.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Campanella-Evans Mortuary, 612 E. Highway 24, Wamego, KS 66547.
