Robert Lee Taylor 1929 - 2008
Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Lee Taylor, 78, De Soto, were Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Olathe. Burial will follow at the Silent City Cemetery in De Soto.
Mr. Taylor died Friday, June 6, 2008, at his home in De Soto.
He was born Sept. 22, 1929, in Holton, the son of John S. and Eva B. Dauchenhousen Taylor.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 10th Field Artillery and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Taylor worked as a section foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years. He was a life member of the Union Pacific Oldtimers Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. He was a founding member of the Bonner Springs and the De Soto groups. He was also a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Olathe.
He married Georgianna Winslow on April 6, 1953, in Olathe. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, John, Kansas City, Kan., and Stuart, Eudora; three daughters, Sarita Taylor, of the home, and Lelani Taylor and Alexanna McCracken, both of De Soto; two sisters, Betty Hughey, De Soto, and Eva J. Crawford, Lawrence; one brother, John D. Taylor, De Soto; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The rosary will follow at 10:30 a.m.
The family suggest memorial contributions in his name to Catholic Charities Hospice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
