Dallas E. Dolan 1927 - 2008
Funeral services for Dallas E. Dolan, 80, Lawrence, were Monday, March 17, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Dolan died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Douglas County, the son of Edgar Thomas and Edna Mae Fetty Dolan. He attended Liberty Memorial High School.
Mr. Dolan worked at the Lawrence Journal-World for 64 years, first as a pressman, then as a production manager and finally as a consultant. He invented the four-sided newspaper cart and a watering system for offset presses.
He was a charter member of the Mid-America Mechanical Conference for more than 30 years, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 309.
He married Donna Beaty. They divorced.
He married Nadine L. "Deanie" Schweitzberger Farrier on Oct. 26, 1974, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Dallas J. Dolan, Lawrence; two stepsons, Rick Farrier, Eudora, and Jim Farrier, Altus, Ark.; two daughters, Nancy Porter and Rhonda Dolan, both of Lawrence; a sister, Norma DeWeese, Lawrence; a sister-in-law, Delores Dolan, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jay D. Dolan; four brothers, Thomas Dolan, Carroll Dolan, Richard Dolan and Lloyd Dolan; a sister, Darlene Hornberger; and a son-in-law, Butch Porter.
