Elden Stuart Lynn 1919 - 2008
emorial services for Elden Stuart Lynn, 88, were April 24 at Monticello Methodist Church in Shawnee. Burial followed at the old Monticello Cemetery.
Elden died April 22, 2008, at Hillside Village Nursing Home in De Soto.
Elden was born on July 18, 1919, to Harry and Adelia ("Mama Dee") Lynn in Lenexa.
He attended school at Shawnee Mission and met his wife Marjorie "Margie" Lee West while working on a school play. They married on Dec. 28, 1940, in Butler, Mo.
Mr. Lynn had an older brother, Lloyd Lynn, and a younger brother, Kenneth Lynn.
Mr. Lynn farmed and purchased a milk route in May 1946. He woke early each morning to milk the cows and delivered the milk twice a day.
The couple purchased their home at 71st and Gleason Street in December 1947, where they lived together for 60 years.
After retiring in the 1980s, Elden spent his free time woodworking, fishing, playing cards and dominoes with friends, and tending to the garden with Margie. They especially enjoyed riding around in their golf cart to deliver vegetables and homemade wine to neighbors, friends and strangers.
Elden was preceded in death by his wife on April 4, 2008. He is survived by two sons, Denny and Marilyn Lynn of Eudora, and Chuck and Melissa Lynn of Lawrence; a daughter Frances and John Duckworth of Shawnee; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
