Alma Jane Broers 1917 - 2008

Funeral services for Alma Jane Broers, 91, Eudora, were Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary- Eudora Chapel. Burial followed at the Eudora Cemetery.
She died October 19, 2008 at Medicalodges in Eudora.
She was born October 15, 1917 in Idana, the daughter of John W. and Lizzie M. (Gallagher) Baker.
She graduated from Longford High School. As an young adult she worked at the Gage Ranch where she helped with the cleaning and cooking. She later worked as a cook at the Kaw Valley School. Throughout her careers she was always a homemaker.
She was a member of the Eudora United Methodist Church where she was active in the Circle. She was also a member of the Weaver HDU, a 4-H Leader in sewing and cooking; the 1900 and Now Club and the Rebekahs Lodge. She enjoyed baking cookies, needle work and could preserve all types of foods.
She married Kermit E. Broers on July 27, 1940 in Oak Hill. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jane Lynn (Michael) Boyer, Longford; two sons, James, Mission, and John and his wife Laura, Eudora; a sister, Florence L. Baker, Oak Hill; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.
Memorials may be made in her name to Mid America Hospice or to Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
