Fred Bohm and Sharon Burns-Bohm stand bundled up on the deck of a cruise ship off the coast of Antarctica. The Eudora couple took a 19-day vacation to Antarctica in February and said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

For most, a winter vacation means going someplace where plentiful sunshine provides a respite from the harsh blowing cold. But Eudora residents Fred Bohm and Sharon Burns-Bohm traded the winter of Kansas for the summer of Antarctica.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
