Tech classes help students plan future

Via its technical education center, Eudora USD 491 long has provided high school students with the opportunity to explore career options that don’t always require a degree from a four-year college. The district has now brought the ability to discover those options to eighth-graders at Eudora Middle School with four exploratory technical education classes.
Eudora ACT scores rise
September 4, 2008
Composite ACT scores for Eudora USD 491 class of 2008 improved upon the scores of the class of 2007. The class of 2008 had an average composite score of 22.4, while the class of 2007 had an average composite score of 22.
EudoraFest to happen despite work on Main St.

Contrary to rumors, EudoraFest will happen Oct. 4 on the south end of Main Street in downtown Eudora. Construction has Main Street firmly in its grasp. It looked so bad to some people that they had been asking EudoraFest Chairperson Barbara Tuttle if the event was even going to happen this year.
Equestrian facility to bring rural lifestyle to disabled

At first glance, it doesn’t seem as though anything special could occur on the plot about five miles south of Eudora. It is a mostly nondescript expanse of 40 acres framed by trees and gravel roads. There is a home, a small creek, a pond and the land has been graded. It makes sense that this is the spot where Community Living Opportunities would choose to build Midnight Farms, as CLO sees possibilities for positive outcomes where others do not.
Amore Chocolate invited to festival

Annette Cook already was busy. Her business, Amore Chocolate Pizza Company, was doing brisk business preparing for fall shipments and a partnership with a company doing wine tastings. But when organizers for the 13th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival in San Francisco came calling, she couldn’t turn down the opportunity to increase the reach of her business.
DEBA soldiers on despite construction setbacks

The Downtown Eudora Business association cancelled what would have been the first Taste of Eudora due to lack of people who could work the event. Then they had to postpone a history contest that would be done in conjunction with Eudora USD 491 students because of the lack of sidewalks in downtown. It’s been that kind of summer for the DEBA.
City council approves 2009 budget

The Eudora City Council Monday approved Monday the city’s 2009 budget. Cuts were made in several areas in order to raise the mill levy by 2.5 mills instead of four mills. Total expenditures will be $10,960,594.
Downtown project on schedule

Though weather initially was the reason the downtown beautification project had to start about two weeks late, it now is the reason the project has stayed on schedule.
Eudora Public Library space hasn’t caught up with growth

Built in 1976, the library is on a growing list of facilities and infrastructure that has not yet caught up with population growth during the last 10 years.
More motions filed in rural water case

Motions for summary judgment have been made by both sides in the lawsuit between Douglas County Rural Water District No. 4 and the city of Eudora.
