It was an up and down day for the Eudora track team in May when it traveled to Santa Fe Trail High School for it’s 4A track and field regional.

Eudora wrestling coach Bill DeWitt is no doctor, but last spring he diagnosed his team with “Jayhawk-basketball syndrome.” It was a way for the coach to explain his team’s repeated frustrations at the state wrestling tournament.

Eudora senior Travis Clarke wrestles Saturday at the regional tournament. Clarke was one of four wrestlers to finish in the top four of the tournament, earning a bid to the state tournament.

Senior Travis Clarke tries to keep position and prevent an escape by Santa Fe Trail wrestler Chase Wells. Clarke won, 6-5, taking the final point in the ultimate tie-breaker. Clarke advanced to the 2008 4A State Tournament, which starts Friday in Salina.

Eudora junior Haley Epperson tries to get off a clean shot Saturday against Tonganoxie in the Tonganoxie Invitational championship game. The Cardinals lost the game, finishing second in the tournament.

Eudora senior Dylan Rust looks to score Friday against De Soto. Rust had 14 points but the Cardinals fell in doubel overtime, 68-60.
