I travel from Topeka to OP along the K10 corridor every day and have for the last 8 years. The biggest problem is not faulty medians, ramps, or merge lanes, but poor drivers. I was caught in the traffic caused by these accidents, and it is unfortunate for all concerned. Perhaps not in this case, but I have been eye-witness to many people coming off the K7 to K10 ramps at excessive speeds and "lose control." The other problem at this and most ramps is failure to use common sense and be gracious to fellow drivers when merging. Both parties need to adjust speed accordingly. Many times I have had to take the shoulder as people coming from K7 do not merge into the right lane but cut across traffic directly into the left lane. The solution to the problem is to control the drivers who use excessive speed while reading the paper, apply makeup, and drive with the knee while texting and doing other misc. tasks. More police presence would save a lot of lives!
