The Facts

The teachers are dismayed about no contract, but most especially those at Nottingham are celebrating the fact that this town chose to vote yes for the bond and they will soon be in a building that will be an outstanding learning environment for all involved. If you really care for this town's teachers and their working conditions-stop working against the bond and what this town voted for. Stop posting continuous negative comments and work with those involved to get the building up and running, settle the contracts, and attract new residents by being positive and supportive of what the town chose to do. The negativity on this forum will keep some from moving to Eudora-both residents and business opportunities!

Well it was a close one....

I just wanted to say thank you to all who voted. We teach the kids that every vote counts during each Kid Vote program and it sure did today. Thank you for putting the needs of the kids first and passing the bond. The teachers are excited about the future and continuing the great programs we have in place along with being able to offer so many more opportunities for our students at all levels down the road. Thanks so much!

We live in a great town with a promising future!

How Much School Tax on Your Home $$$$$$$$$

The preschool was designed for special needs children. There are so many peer models for every special needs child in the program. It is open to the public, but there is a waiting list because so many would like to be in the program but we only have room for 4 half day classes. Moving the program to West will allow the program to reach so many more kids in our community. Right now the program is largely funded by special education dollars, that is why there is a limited enrollment for peer models and both rooms are taught by early childhoom special education teachers. Fabulous program!

We are not opening another new school. We are getting rid of one and moving the staffs and students to that school.

We aren't asking for more staff, we are asking for room so that the staff we have now has adequate space to work with their students. More staff will come with more enrollment which also comes with more per student aid. What the bond asks for is more space-at all building levels and more space for our athletic programs.

Is this numer right ? 46 Acres For a new school

Hi, Thankyou-
The new school does leave room in the plan for a 10 classroom addition to be added on years down the road if needed. With a school that big, there are several parking lots, playground areas, a ball field, etc. planned along with a separate bus lane for buses only and several entrances and exits from the site. There is also an area for future development set between Cecil Mondays and the planned school. The building itself will have a large media center, two computer labs, a double sized gym, a large cafeteria, two music rooms, along with 5 grade levels pods that will house the classrooms, special ed rooms, restrooms, etc.

Here is your chance!

How many "older folks" walk to the games now? I've been at several and haven't seen too many walking the streets near the football stadium to get to the games. Lots of "older folks" drive to the games and park in the lot or near the parking lot, but not too many walking from blocks away.

Just vote NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe it or not, our kids do have rights! Now mine won't be driving anytime soon or voting, but they do have the right to be treated fairly and respectfully like you wish us to do to you. I don't know too many kids that get away with murder. Our children also have the right to be valued which our district clearly understands has used input from various sources including the teachers, parents, and community to formulate a plan to provide a better learning environment for our kids! AC, space, etc. play a part in providing the least restrictive environment for learning.

We value every child that walks through our doors, rich or poor, short or tall-it's time to deal with the conditions at Nottingham!

Just the facts

DeSoto also has buildings that are not full. They have built and built and built, but they do not have the enrollment growth that we are seeing. Comparing us to DeSoto is like comparing us to Lawrence-we are in a league of our own and we have a serious need at this present moment. The teachers back this plan-they see the need and the bond plans for the future, plenty of room for growth in the preschool/kindergarten building, new elementary and beyond. Could we possibly see that building at capacity down the road-absolutely, but we aren't predicting 300+ new elementary students in the next couple of years, but, wow wouldn't that be a great problem to have-more students means more taxpayers, just what the opponents are wanting!
