Dave and Rose House stand with a wreath in the middle of their Christmas tree lot, 1727 Oak St., just north of Kansas Highway 10. The lot is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
