Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Kan., presents Eudora Elementary School Principal Jan Irby with a flag during a formal dedication ceremony Sunday at the school, as Eudora Superintendent Don Grosdidier looks on. The flag was flown July 21 over the U.S. Capitol in honor of the new $27 million school that houses students in first through fifth grades. The school has been open since August.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
