US shopping malls undergo a major overhaul with sit-down restaurants

If you have been craving for changes, the shopping malls in the country are the places you should be in. Nobody can afford to miss the best of sit-down restaurants that are being added in shopping malls across the nation.

The effects of struggling economy are easily reflected in the performances of shopping malls. Further, the wide popularity of online shopping is eating away their rightful share. A 1% drop in foot traffic was recorded in the year 2011 as per data released by research firm ShopperTrak. Despite the unavailability of data for the year 2012, a declination in mall traffic is apparent. These are the reasons why efforts to reinvent malls are on. Issues such as low consumer spending, rising e-commerce and slow growth in retail stores can be fought with the introduction of recipes.

Alan Barocas, head of Leasing at General Growth Properties, is all set to replace traditional retailers with quality restaurants unless major positive changes in performances are noted. Restaurants in and around the shopping malls can be easily spotted these days. Places such as the parking lots and anchor stores are now occupied by restaurants. Some might think negatively about the future of food courts. Are they going to be replaced by restaurants? Well, the food courts are nowhere to go. The addition of restaurants alongside food courts is to give people just about a new reason to visit shopping malls and spend hell of a time and money while they are in there.
