Don and Mary Walker, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 21. Their children will be hosts for the event at The Lodge in Baldwin City.
Don Walker and Mary Wauge were married March 21, 1959, in Lawrence.
Mary worked at the former Department of Radio and Television at Kansas University, was a bus driver for the Lawrence school district for 13 years, and worked in the seafood department at Dillon’s for 13 years before retiring in 1999.
Don was employed by All Star Dairy for 28 years and Dillon’s for 10 years before retiring in 1999. They have been members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church since 1976.
They have two daughters, Lori Foos and husband Randy, Eudora, and Lisa Pattrick and husband Mike, Baldwin City; and a son, David and wife Theresa, Kingman; and seven grandchildren.
W.C. and Dorene Carter, Eudora, will celebrated 65 years of marriage on March 15.
Mr. Carter was employed as Eudora High School principal and assistant superintendent of schools for the Eudora School District from 1967 until 1971.
The couple have lived in Eudora for 42 years.
