Services for Ruby K. Guenther, 85, Lawrence, were Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Guenther died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.
She was born Nov. 14, 1914, in rural Linwood, the daughter of George Henik and Pearl (Hubbard) Henik. She was raised northwest of Linwood.
She graduated from Linwood High School in 1933. Later she moved to Lawrence, where she worked as a housekeeper. She moved to Pleasant Grove from Lawrence in 1947, where she and her husband operated a small salvage yard and farmed in the Worden area.
She married Robert A. Guenther on June 24, 1942, in Lawrence. He died May 12, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Harold Guenther, Lawrence, and Leslie Guenther and Brian Guenther, both of Baldwin; two stepsons, Robert Guenther Jr., Odessa, Texas, and Delmar Guenther, Madill, Okla.; five daughters, Mary Lowrance, Oskaloosa, and Delores Elm, Linda Roberts, Glenna Edmonds and Diana Sauer, all of Lawrence; two brothers, Frank Henak, Kansas City, Kan., and Fred Henik, Shawnee; two sisters, Lola Mae Torneden and Edna Elder, both of Linwood; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, Eileen Mann, died earlier.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn. or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence.
