Private services for Norman L. Schweitzberger, 81, Lawrence, will be held.

Mr. Schweitzberger died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Center.

He was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Lecompton, the son of Arthur and Mary (Fraker) Schweitzberger.

He attended public school in Lawrence and was a 1936 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence. He attended Kansas University for one year.

Mr. Schweitzberger was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Alford-Clarke Post No. 852, both in Lawrence.

He worked as a printer at Kansas Color Press from 1950 until his retirement in 1980.

He married Catherine Malone on July 10, 1943, in New Haven, Conn. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Schweitzberger, Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County or the Kansas University Endowment Association for KU Libraries. They may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
