Graveside services for Arnold George Torneden, 95, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Torneden died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Baldwin Care Center, Baldwin.
He was born May 31, 1905, in Linwood, the son of Fredrick George and Caroline (Kampschroeder) Torneden.
Mr. Torneden was an active community leader in Reno, Tonganoxie and Baldwin. He was a school board member in Villa Eden and Reno, a 4-H leader and superintendent of Swine Division County Fair, served on the Federal Housing Authority, and was a Leavenworth committee member on the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service for more than 15 years.
He married Madge French on Oct. 4, 1933, in Bonner Springs. She survives of the home.
Survivors include a son, Arnold Duane, Titusville, Fla.; a daughter, Rettalou Massey, Baldwin, formerly of Eudora; a sister, Lillian Gantz, Lawrence; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A short prayer service will follow visitation.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County or the Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
