Graveside services for Marilyn Kay Bland, 55, Elsah, Ill., formerly of Ottawa, are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Ms. Bland died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Eudora.

She was born Nov. 22, 1944 on a farm in Garfield County near Enid, Okla., the daughter of Clyde Murrel and Tennyson Irene (Welty) Bland.

She graduated from Ottawa High School and Principia College, Elsah, Ill. She also received a master's degree and doctorate in botany from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Ms. Bland worked as an environmental ecologist for NUS, an engineering consulting firm in Pittsburgh, Penn. She also worked for SRI, an institute that once was a research arm of Stanford University at Palo Alto, Calif.

She took an early retirement and moved to Medford, Ore. Later, she moved to Boulder, Colo., and then to Elsah, Ill., where she resided until she moved to the Eudora area.

She was a Christian Science practitioner and a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Elsah, Ill.

Survivors include two brothers, Murrel Bland, Kansas City, Kan., and Milton Bland, Eudora.
