Lawrence Dee “Larry” Hime
Funeral services for Lawrence "Larry" Dee Himes were held Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Christ Community Church, Lawrence.
Mr. Hime died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Fall River, the son of Norman C. and Bessie A. (Shinkle) Hime. He worked for Peter Kewit Corporation, he was a shop foreman/mechanic for List and Clark, a field engineer for CMI Corp., he was a shop foreman for NR Hamm Quarries/Construction and he also worked at Reuter Organ Co. and Lawrence Athletic Club in Maintenance.
He was a member of Masonic Petroleum Lodge No. 474, Tulsa, Okla., since 1964 and a member of the Christ Community Church. He served as a Trustee at Mission Lake Christian Camp in Horton and served as president and coached baseball for the Perry Athletic Association. He served several years as Deacon and elder at Perry Christian church. He was active in the Eudora and Perry-Lecompton Booster Clubs.
He married Sharon Eaton in 1955, in Fredonia. They later divorced. He married Jeanie Thoma on April 4, 1980. She survives of the home.
Survivors include two sons, Darrell Bradley Hime, Eudora; Kansas and Grant Evan Hardesty of San Francisco; three daughters, Sharlyn Marie Fulks, Ottawa; Leah Jean Hime and Deborah Lynn Hime, both of Eudora; his mother, Bessie A. Hime, Fall River; two brothers, Evert Amos Hime, Idabel, Okla. And Jerry Ray Hime, Derby; two sisters, Norma Gay Jones, Fall River and Marilyn Kay Deveney, Huntsville, Texas. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence was in charge of arrangements.
