Merritt L. Musick Sr.
Services for Merritt Louis Musick Sr., 91, Eudora, were Wednesday, Dec. 12, at St. Paul United Church of Christ. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Musick died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 1, 1910, in Eudora, the son of Ephraim and Grace (Schellack) Musick. He was a farmer and also worked for many years hauling hedge posts to Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. He and his wife owned the Dairy Joy in De Soto from 1963 to 1986.
Mr. Musick was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora, the Mt. Oread Aerie No. 309 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lawrence. He was a former member of the Kaw Valley School Board and one of the founding members of Farmers County Co-op. After his retirement, he spent many winters in Texas.
He married Ella M. Wichman on July 7, 1931, in Olathe. She died on May 20, 1978. He married Florence Nuckolls on Feb. 27, 1980, in Edinburgh, Texas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include six daughters, Shirley Crawshaw, Baldwin, Geraldine Wilcox, Hutchinson, Iona Mae Spring, Imogene Brecheisen, Janice McKenzie and Marilyn Lindeen, all of Eudora; four sons, Norman Musick, LaVerne Musick and Merritt Musick Jr., all of Eudora, and Larry Musick, Alco, Ark.; one sister, Edna Mae Schmidt, Lawrence; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the church or to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
