Wilma E. Griffin
Graveside services for Wilma Edna Brecheisen Griffin, 88, Eudora, were Monday, July 16, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was at Deay Cemetery in rural Eudora.
Mrs. Griffin died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born March 3, 1913, in rural Eudora, the daughter of Walter Peter and Ella Marie (Miller) Brecheisen.
She attended East Hopewell Grade School and graduated from Eudora High School in 1933.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Little Blue Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School; Hesper Mother's Club, Hesper EHU and 4-H. She was an active force in getting a hot lunch program started at Hesper Grade School. She was active in the Hesper Summer Reading program after the school closed. She also cut gauze as a volunteer for the Cancer Society for over 20 years and sewed lap covers, bibs and comfort items for area nursing homes as a member of the Eudora 2-W's.
She married Noel Albert Griffin in 1935 in Iola. He died May 29, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Tressa Ella Stone, Spring Hill, and Edna Emma Jewett, Lawrence; two brothers, Wesley Brecheisen, Eudora, and Freddie Brecheisen, Gardner; two sisters, Marie Foster, Shawnee Mission, and Eva Waggoner, Eudora; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
