Money collected for aneurysm patient
Friends and family of Nina Hillebert are asking the Eudora community to rally together to support the Eudora woman who underwent surgery earlier this week for an aneurysm. She had one burst on the left side, friend Jeanie Rodgers said, and another in the front that hadn't, so doctors and nurses were trying to keep her calm.
"Friends and family are banding together," Rodgers said.
Douglas County Bank in Eudora, where Hillebert's daughter Alesha works, has set up a fund to help with medical expenses. Debbie Campbell, who also works at the bank, said large donations could be brought into the bank or smaller ones taken to collection tubs around town.
Alesha Hillebert said she was thankful for the effort. Since Nina Hillebert is hospitalized at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., her daughter has been trying to balance work and visiting her mother.
"My work's been really lenient," she said.
Rodgers said work is a big part of Nina Hillebert's life.
"She can work circles around anybody I know," Rodgers said. "She could outwork me any hour of the day."
The group hopes to also have tubs at Casey's, Kwik Shop and Broers Flower Shop soon, Rodgers said.
"I would want somebody to do that for me if it were my family," she said.
