Marion “M.E.” Mann

Memorials services for Marion "M.E." Mann, 78, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 26 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Mann died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Eudora Nursing Center.

He was born April 6, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of George Thomas and Beulah Gladys (Wright) Mann. He was raised in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1942. He had lived in Lawrence since 1961.

Mr. Mann was an aviator in the U.S. Navy and served in both World War II and Korea. He retired as a lieutenant commander after 24 years.

After retiring from the Navy, he returned to Lawrence and worked as an auto salesman for Stevenson Oldsmobile for many years. He then worked for the Kansas Highway Safety Department for 10 years.

He married Gloria Erickson Jan. 30, 1948, in Las Vegas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Glennis Mann, Lawrence; three sons, Ronald Mann, Grove, Okla., Michael Mann, Lawrence, and Marc Mann, Overland Park; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., or Hospice of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
